TransData Completes Acquisition of APTECH Isolation Relay and Isolation Buffer Meter System Protection Product Lines

APTECH has been a leading manufacturer of Isolation Relays and Isolation Buffers for the electric utility industry since 1986. The acquisition furthers TransData's corporate strategy to offer additional metering related products to expand our core business at electric utility companies.

The Isolation Relays and Isolation Buffers use advanced, solid-state technology to electrically isolate electric meters pulse outputs in order to protect the meter, network components, energy management (SCADA) systems and other recording or totalizing devices from damage in the event of surge conditions. Additionally, Isolation Relays and Isolation Buffers can provide pulse replication whereas a single pulse output is split into several pulse output data streams for multiple device monitoring and recording of energy data.

In many cases, electric utilities provide pulse outputs that are connected to an Industrial customer's energy management system for monitoring energy usage. The Isolation Relays and Isolation Buffers protect the customer's equipment from surge related damage being transmitted through the electric meter via pulse output wiring into the customer's premises.
