tED Magazine Announces Launch Of All Industry Anti-Counterfeiting Initiative
St. Louis, MO - tED Magazine announces the launch of a new anti-counterfeiting advocacy campaign. Endorsed by Canadian Standards Association (CSA); National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED); National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA); National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA); and Underwriters Laboratory (UL); the campaign builds on current industry collaboration that impedes the growth of counterfeit electrical products in the marketplace.
The major components of the 2010-2011 initiative are:
- An on-going ad campaign in tED Magazine and ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR that remind everyone of the dangers and liabilities of counterfeit electrical products
- Monthly updates with news, interviews, and vital counterfeit prevention information posted to the CounterfeitsCanKill.com Web site, and;
- Links to the CounterfeitsCanKill.com Web site through publication, association, and sponsor Web sites and online publications.
Manufacturers have come together to sponsor this initiative with the objective of eliminating the sale and installation of counterfeit electrical products. Campaign sponsors are Alcan, Eaton, Fluke, GE, Siemens, and Square D by Schneider Electric.
"Counterfeiting is one of the biggest challenges facing the electrical industry, becoming more and more prevalent with today's global economy. We, as an industry - distributors, manufacturers, contractors, and electricians - must remain especially vigilant and aware of this danger," said Tom Naber, president and CEO of NAED. "That is why NAED endorses this anti-counterfeiting campaign. We want everyone to know the hazards that counterfeit products present and be aware of why it is so important to partner with reputable authorized distributors and reputable manufacturers who stand behind their products."
This campaign is a long-term investment designed to keep liability and life safety issues in the forefront of the minds of all those involved in the electrical construction industry and sponsors of the initiative will be seen as industry leaders that are committed to solving these life-threatening problems.
ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR and tED Magazine share a history in fighting counterfeit electrical products. In their respective December 2008 issues, they produced a joint Anti-Counterfeit supplement and in 2009 they co-produced a Webinar, conference seminars, and ongoing Web initiatives at CounterfeitsCanKill.com.
