Sunterra RE Expands Its BESS Portfolio With A 47 MW Battery System For The Kaloyanovo Solar PV Plant
Sunterra RE continues its ambitious program to modernize its energy infrastructure with the opening of another battery energy storage system (BESS) at the Kaloyanovo Solar photovoltaic power plant. The system has an installed capacity of 47 MW and a capacity of 94 MWh.
The technological solution is based on 23 lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, ensuring reliable storage. The selected technology is characterized by high safety, durability, and minimal environmental impact.
With its characteristics, the system at Kaloyanovo Solar PV Plant represents a significant contribution to the company's overall BESS project. The facility will balance solar energy production with the needs of the electricity grid, ensuring stability and predictability.
Emil Shopov, CEO of Sunterra RE, emphasized that "Kaloyanovo Solar PV Plant is an important element of the energy transformation strategy. The 94 MWh battery capacity allows for flexible management of energy flows and contributes to cost optimization in the electricity system."
