SUEZ Energy Resources NA To Serve The University Of Chicago

Houston, TX - SUEZ Energy Resources NA, the U.S. retail energy business of SUEZ Energy International, has announced a three-year deal to supply electricity to The University of Chicago. The contract covers all buildings on The University of Chicago's main campus with the peak load demand totaling nearly 60 MW.

"The University of Chicago is one of the world's great academic institutions, and we're very excited to be the power behind its mission," said Michel Sirat, President, SUEZ Energy Resources North America. "The energy marketplace is quite volatile and requires a smart, diversified strategy. SUEZ worked closely with the University to structure a product that reduces the impact of this volatility while allowing The University of Chicago to benefit from lower wholesale prices."

According to Venkat Kumar, Director for Energy and Utilities Management, Facilities Services at The University of Chicago, the procurement decisions were based on competition. He said, "We look forward to working with SUEZ Energy Resources to implement our contract and combine our fixed price purchases with market based purchases and take advantage of market conditions."

SUEZ Energy Resources NA currently serves commercial and industrial customers in eight states: Texas, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and also Washington, D.C. SUEZ serves commercial and industrial customers with peak demands ranging from 50 KW to more than 200 MW.
