EPRI PEAC's Power Quality Test Facility is a modern power quality testing and research laboratory capable of testing industrial and business equipment, residential appliances, and new or prototype products against dozens of national and international standards. The Facility includes a suite of modern monitoring equipment and five major test stations to characterize equipment and power-conditioning devices and solve power quality problems.

The RMS Electrical Disturbances Station couples computer-controlled disturbance generators with multichannel monitoring equipment to determine the response of equipment to voltage dips, swells, outages, and other RMS electrical disturbances.

The Waveform Disturbances Station enables engineers and technicians to determine the response of equip-ment to various types of waveform disturbances, such as harmonics, notching, and voltage transients.

The Motors and Drives Station features EPRI PEAC's proprietary Controllable Dynamic Dynamometer Test Setup, which uses a unique monitoring system to gauge the characteristics of simulated process loads, including speed, torque, voltage, and current.

The Lighting Station includes test setups to characterize all types of modern light-ing— including electronic and magnetic fluorescent lighting, high-intensity discharge lamps, and high-pressure sodium lamps—as well as lighting controls such as electronic dimmers.

The RF Shielded Test Chamber provides an environment free of conducted and radiated emissions, which is required for conducting radio-frequency (RF) tests on many types of commercial and industrial equipment, as well as residential appliances.

With our laboratory resources, we can model industrial processes and electrical environments to verify a solution before it is installed at your site. Verifying solutions with computer modeling and load simulation enables you to maximize the return on your investment by avoiding costly work interruptions and shutdowns of continuous processes. Once a solution has been verified and economically justified, we can install it at your site with confidence in its performance. The resources of the Power Quality Test Facility also enable us to develop products to specification and test new products and technologies before they go to market, including conducting market analyses to determine how favorable the market is to a particular power quality product.
