OPTEK Introduces Family Of Solid State Relays With High-Speed, High-Frequency Switching Operations

Las Vegas, NV - Providing design engineers with the reliability of solid state switching and optical isolation, TT electronics OPTEK Technology has introduced a family of solid state relays. Designated the OSSR Series, the relays are offered in hockey puck (panel mount), SIP1 and SIP2 packages, and incorporate a zero crossing circuit that minimizes current and noise surges due to resistive and inductive loads.
"Not only are we now able to provide design engineers with the ability to switch loads while isolating input from output, but the OSSR Series devices offer engineers the inherent advantages solid state devices provide over electromechanical relays," said Alan Bennett, vice president of sales and marketing for OPTEK Technology. "With high speed and high frequency switching operations, no operational noise and no contact failure, the relays are suitable for a number of markets and applications."
The solid state relays are specified for applications ranging from white goods and appliances, to industrial and packaging equipment, robotics, motor controls and electric vehicles, as well as HVAC and alarm systems.
The OSSR Series solid state relays are available in three configurations: DC input/AC output with input ranging from 4VDC to 32VDC, load current to 40A and load voltage to 480VAC; AC input/AC output with input ranging from 5VAC to 12VAC, 4VAC to 32VAC and 100VAC to 240VAC, along with load current to 40A and load voltage to 480VAC; and DC input/DC output with input range of 4VDC to 24VDC, load current to 3A and load voltage to 100VAC.
