Oncor To Deploy The Ecologic MDMS

Bloomington, MN - Ecologic Analytics, a leading provider of meter data management systems (MDMS) for electric, natural gas and water utilities, announced recently that it has been chosen as the MDMS for Oncor's Advanced Metering System (AMS) project. The MDMS will manage AMS meter read data for more than 3 million electric meters in Oncor's service territory. The utility is in the process of rolling out advanced meters and has made a commitment to complete its entire service territory by 2012 in one of the broadest deployments of AMS technology on an electric grid in the nation.

Initially, the Ecologic MDMS will load 15-minute interval data and daily meter reads from Landis+Gyr's Gridstream advanced energy management solution, then validate, estimate, edit (VEE) the data, post billing determinants and deliver the information to the respective Oncor systems ready for billing and presentment to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), the state's settlement authority. By January 2010, the Ecologic MDMS will also be incorporated into higher order automated functions provided by the AMS.

"We look forward to working with Ecologic Analytics in the deployment of our AMS. The Ecologic MDMS provides a solution with strong capabilities that are well suited to our AMS architecture," said Mark Carpenter, chief information officer at Oncor. "Our meter deployment is important to the Texas businesses and homeowners we serve to have greater control over their electricity usage and the data from the meter reads made possible from Ecologic are integral components in our consumers realizing the full benefits of the AMS deployment."

The Ecologic Analytics solution is one of the most mature enterprise MDMS solutions on the market. Its VEE engines - WAVE(tm) and iWAVE(tm) - have been used in large-scale production environments for several years. Its strong track record in the California market demonstrates an ability to apply its VEE engines to manage the intricacies of complex requirements such as those seen in the competitive Texas market. In addition, as a member of the team integrating the Oncor AMS solution, Ecologic Analytics will apply the experience it has gained in supporting the production use of its MDMS since 2001.

"We are extremely pleased that Oncor has chosen to deploy the Ecologic MDMS to support its advanced metering system," said Kristine Beck, co-founder and chief operating officer. "We look forward to building a strong partnership with Oncor as we work together to achieve their project goals."

The added value of Ecologic Analytics' relationship with Landis+Gyr provides Oncor with an extraordinary level of coordinated advanced metering expertise and functionality. The heritage of the relationship between Ecologic Analytics and Landis+Gyr began in 2001 with joint field deployments and was later expanded though Landis+Gyr's strategic investment in the Company in 2007.
