If you want to prevent oil from inadvertently being pumped into the environment than install an Oil Smart Switch.
If you want to prevent oil from inadvertently being pumped into the environment than install an Oil Smart Switch. Installation of the Oil Smart Switch takes only a few minutes and will control a pump to only allow water to be discharged from your structures. Unlike float switches, the Oil Smart Switch requires no maintenance. The Oil Smart Switch can be found in generating plants, electrical substations, underground vaults, elevator shafts and many other applications across North America.

The Oil Smart Switch has undergone many modifications and improvements since its introduction in 1997. Due to customer requests, the Oil Smart Switch can now be purchased with wire lengths up to 20 feet with a piggyback plug. Use of the piggyback plug makes for easy installation and reduces the cost. The separation between the "on" & "off" position on the switch can now be extended up to 7 inches. The standard Oil Smart Switch is rated for 6amps. The Oil Smart Switch can now be ordered with a 20amp, total encapsulated inline relay.

How does the Oil Smart Switch work? When water is present in a structure and the water covers the two sensors on the Oil Smart Switch, the pump will start and discharge the water until the water level is clear of the bottom sensor. When water clears the bottom sensor the pump will be turned off. If oil is present in a structure, regardless if the quantity of oil is a sheen or 2 feet deep, as water re-enters the structure and covers both sensors the pump will be turned on by the Oil Smart Switch. The Oil Smart Switch does not need to be reset if oil is present.

Installation of the Oil Smart Switch prevents pumping oil contaminated waste into the environment, improves the reliability of your electric system and provides a safe and dry work environment for your employees. Don't disconnect your pumps to comply with Government Regulations. Manage and control your discharge by installing the Oil Smart Switch. Reduce the risk of adverse publicity, fines and expensive cleanup costs.
