OEM Design Partnerships- Motor Case Study
Source: Doran Manufacturing
Doran Manufacturingpany%> provides their customer, a major electrical motor manufacturer, with terminal blocks and switches for their high volume motor lines. In an effort to simplify an assembly of several hard-to-handle component items and add value for the end-users, Doran engineers brought in ideas from other markets. Working side by side with their engineers, Doran helped their customer design a one-piece molded replacement for these pieces. In addition to design help, Doran brought value through rapid prototypes and their low cost automated assembly, which is competitive with Mexican manufacturing costs.![]()
After the success of the molded piece, Doran is now in the second year of a new project – the complete redesign of an entire motor line. They are changing the way everything, from electrical switches to wiring interfaces, works together. These changes will address the concerns of million-plus cycle life, functionality, cost savings, end-customer use, quality control, and production.
