North American Filter Corporation is a leading manufacturer of filtration systems for air, gas, and liquids. A broad range of industries depends on our filters and filtration systems to protect both equipment and processes.

Our sales and main manufacturing facility is located in Newark, New York, midway between Rochester and Syracuse.

Company Origin / History

Founded in 1984, the company's top management possess over 120 years experience in all areas of industrial filtration. The Newark, New York facility, located in modern manufacturing buildings, measures 6503 square meters (70,000 square feet), and employs 95 manufacturing, engineering, sales, and management personnel.

In March of 2000, North American Filter Corporation was acquired by four of it's managers: Steve Taylor,President; Glenn Sanders, VP Sales & Marketing, Jim VanNeel,VP of Operations; and Vicky Austin,VP of Human Resources. The acquisition of the company is just a beginning for NAFCO's management team. Steve Taylor said "The management team is very excited about the many opportunities the new ownership arrangement will offer both the employees and the local community. We project that sales will double in the next 5 years and that our products will be produced entirely at our Newark facility by adding additional employees". NAFCO will continue to provide quality products and service at competitive prices.

Product Range

North American Filter Corporation addresses its markets with a wide selection of industrial filtration products and systems for air, gases and liquids. Although its main focus is for applications requiring filtration of contaminants in the 1 micron to 40 micron range, our three operating divisions offer filtration products within the following broad micron parameters.

From: 0.1 micron absolute filter cartridges used in pharmaceutical and other high purity applications.

Up to: 100 micron liquid filter systems, used for coolant filtration in automotive engine plants, or to filter lean carbonate solutions in chemical processing plants.

Company Operations

The corporation has three sales divisions. Each division specializes in a particular segment of the filtration market.

NAFCO Division

NAFCO specializes in the design and manufacture of air, gas and liquid filtration systems that operate at full vacuum to 700 bars; with flow rates up to350,000 NM3/HR, and temperatures to 350 degrees C. NAFCO filters and systems are installed worldwide in natural gas pipelines, used in process gas systems, in chemical and petrochemical feedstock systems, in city and town gas, in electric and water utility applications, and in compressor air inlet systems. NAFCO does not manufacture pollution control or HVAC equipment.

Refilco Division

Refilco specializes in the manufacture of replacement filter cartridges for the removal of particulate and water from lubricating, hydraulic and fuel oils. Refilco cartridges are available to replace cartridges made by over 80 different U.S. and foreign original equipment manufacturers (OEM's). Refilco products protect bearings, valves, seals, pistons, injectors and may other critical components, from premature failure, by removing harmful solids and contaminants.

The microfiltration product line specializes in the design and manufacture of filtration systems for liquids and gases for the most critical applications. The various filter media used are polyester, polypropylene and PTFE membrane media. Nominally rated filter cartridges range from 0.1 to 90 microns. These filters have wide application in the pharmaceutical and electronic industries, and also in the food and beverage industries. Applications include sterile filtration of water, solvents, gases, etchants and many chemicals.

Vokes - North America Division

Vokes North America provides the engineering, design and manufacture of lube oil and fuel oil filtration systems, for original equipment manufacturers (OEM's) and packagers of diesel engines, gas and steam turbines, and compressors. Specific products include ASME / API simplex and duplex housings, with transfer valves, for 10 and 20 bar g. The units are supplied with rugged, high efficiency, long life filter cartridges for turbine and compressor lube oil systems. In addition, the Division supplies oil mist coalescers for diesel engine crankcase breathers, turbine lube oil tank vents and gear box vents. It also services North America in the electric power generation industry and the marine industry.

The STREAMLINE product range provides a complete fixed or mobile system for treatment of insulating oils in transformer and switchgear applications. Typical systems include heaters, vacuum, and filtration, to restore the dielectric strength of insulating oils to 60 kV or better, in one pass with a compact, easy to operate system.

These Vokes Division products provide high integrity and cost effective protection for expensive capital equipment.
