Mining Duty Breaker Family

The new family of Sentron electronic and electromechanical mining duty circuit breakers range from 3A to 1600A. All frames are available in 600V and 1000V versions, with standard and specialty trip units designed to Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) standards for trailing cable applications. Design features include large contacts, handle shields, phase barriers, rugged handle materials, and low-power auxiliary switches for PLC applications. Breakers were tested for interruption capability and calibration and underwent rigorous load demands and on-site trials in West Virginia.

Electronic trip mining breakers encompass all trailing cable pick-up settings with a single frame and two trip units, enabling customers to use fewer breakers in most applications. Moreover, electromechanical breakers offer a wide range of exact trailing cable settings, further reducing inventory. Finally, trip units for both electronic and electromechanical breakers are interchangeable within the breaker line and work in either 600V or 1000V frames.

Common accessories also help keep inventory requirements under control. Internal accessories are common for the 400A and 600A frames, as well as for the 800A, 1200A and 1600A frames. A wide variety of external accessories are also available, including compression or mechanical lugs, plug-in assemblies for quick change out, rear connectors and inner phase barriers.
