Esco MILLHOG Mini Series end prep tools are the most ruggedly built and efficiently designed tools available today for milling heavy wall pipe and tube from 1.25" I.D. to 6.625" O.D. Rigidly mounting to the I.D. by a draw rod clamping assembly which centers the tool automatically, they utilize a ratchet mechanism for feeding the cutter head. Featuring titanium nitride coated cutter blades for smooth milling, without requiring cutting oils, they produce a clean, continuous chip and square off the end of the pipe or tube.
Technical Overview
Pneumatically powered with torque-free operation, Esco MILLHOG Mini Series end prep tools are capable of cutting pipe up to 6" double extra strong. Our unique design incorporates a high torque motor and a single gear drive system for optimum performance. Simple to operate, all you have to do is measure the pipe I.D., select the correct size clamp ribs and pads from our handy selector chart and install them on the mandrel. Because they self-align, that's all there is to it. Now insert the mandrel into the pipe I.D.
Featuring an I.D. clamping system with a draw rod which expands the clamp ribs to rigidly mount the MILLHOG, your next step is to insert the easy-to-index titanium nitride coated cutter blades into our proprietary multi-angular EscoLock system. This design seats the blades securely to prevent chatter and lets you cut heavier wall pipe. Now connect the air, adjust the control valve, and advance the cutter head by ratcheting to begin cutting.
The first thing you'll notice with the MILLHOG is it's compactness. Then you'll marvel at the chatter-free operation and production of a smooth, contaminant-free cut and the clean, continuous chip. This tool can perform 37-1/2° preps, "J" preps, and flat facing; or combined bevel and facing or bore and facing with a perfectly square end every time.
