Larson Electronics, a Texas-based company with over 40 years of experience spearheading the industrial lighting and equipment sectors, announced the release of a power distribution substation that converts 600V AC three-phase electrical current into single-phase 120/240V AC. This unit offers operators the ability to safely tap into 600V and distribute 600V, 240V and 120V AC power from generators and direct grid power. This substation is portable and allows operators to power 600V, 240V and 120V equipment from a single system.
The MGS-600.4X60A.1X100A-50KVA-4X240.50A-10X120.20A power distribution system enables operators to bring 600V three-phase power via their own line-in cord to the NEMA 3R 250-amp 600V three-phase primary main breaker. The main breaker features four 60-amp breakers protecting four 60-amp 600V 460R5W receptacles, one 100-amp breaker protecting one 100-amp 600V 4100R5W pin/sleeve receptacle, and one 125-amp breaker protecting the 50 kVA transformer. The transformer converts 600V three-phase to 120/240V single-phase and passes the current to the secondary panel.
Larson Electronics’ power distribution system features a secondary side that feeds a NEMA 3R 225-amp 120/240V single-phase main lug panel that contains four 50-amp 240V breakers. These breakers protect four 50-amp CS8269 receptacles and 10 20-amp 120V breakers protecting 10 120V 20-amp 5-20R duplex receptacles. All the receptacles on this unit are equipped with weatherproof covers.
The transformer and load assembly is mounted to a 2” by 2” by 1/8”-thick square carbon steel tubing frame with forklift skid pockets, locking casters and a top-located lifting eyelet. The transformer is grounded to the frame with a grounding lug that is provided. Suitable applications include indoor and outdoor use, construction sites, plant maintenance and turnarounds, and more.
