Novi, MI -- ITCTransmission recently announced the opening of its newest 120 kV transmission facility, Wyatt Station, in Verona Township near Bad Axe, Mich., and celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Joseph Welch, president and CEO of ITCTransmission, as well as municipal and civic leaders including Senator Jim Barcia were present to participate in this historic event.

Construction on the new facility which is the first electrical transmission station built in Michigan's "Thumb" region in the last 30 years, began in the spring of 2006 and concluded on September 1. "Wyatt Station is another example of ITCTransmission's commitment to ensuring the electrical reliability of southeastern Michigan", said Joseph Welch. "This new station will increase the capacity for future growth in the area."

Benefits of the project include increased flexibility for both the local utility and ITCTransmission to perform scheduled shutdowns for maintenance on the electrical system which will ensure reliability. Additionally, wind farm generators can connect to the new station to provide an alternative energy source in the future.
