HD Electric Co.-Test tests energized or de-energized suspension insulators for non-visible internal failures at any AC line voltage. A built-in gigohmeter applies a current limited 10kVDC potential across an insulator. It has an LED meter that displays the condition of the insulator being tested and a buzzer provides an audible warning of bad insulators. The unit is powered by an 8VDC rechargeable battery, which lasts for several days of testing. The tester weighs approximately 3 lb. (1.36 kg) and comes with a carrying case.
