GIGA Storage Acquires 350MW/1.400MWh Project GIGA Albatross In Germany, Marking Key Step In European Expansion
GIGA Storage, a leading developer and operator of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), is pleased to announce the acquisition of Project GIGA Albatross, a large-scale 350MW / 1,400MWh energy storage development located near Neuenkirchen, Lower Saxony, Germany. The acquisition represents a major milestone in GIGA Storage’s international growth strategy and establishes a significant foothold in the German market.
Strategic Entry into Germany’s Growing Storage Sector
This acquisition signals GIGA Storage’s intent to become a key player in Germany’s energy storage landscape. Project Albatross aligns closely with GIGA’s vertically integrated model—spanning project development, engineering, construction, and long-term operation. The project will provide critical grid services in one of Germany’s most important power corridors and is expected to support renewable integration, frequency regulation, and local congestion management.
GIGA Storage will take an active role in the development of Project Albatross, contributing development capital, deep technical expertise, and operational know-how to bring the project to ready-to-build status.
Partnering for Accelerated Growth Across Europe
The project was originated by Isenau Projects, a specialist BESS developer focused on advancing utility-scale energy storage projects in Germany from greenfield through to ready-to-build. Isenau works in close partnership with institutional and corporate investors to develop high-impact energy infrastructure opportunities.
The acquisition is backed by InfraVia Capital Partners, a leading European infrastructure investor and majority shareholder in GIGA Storage. InfraVia’s support underscores a shared ambition to accelerate the energy transition by building out a pan-European platform for grid-scale energy storage.
Kevin Dijkers, CEO of GIGA Storage, commented:
“Our ambition is to develop and operate multiple gigawatts of energy storage capacity across Europe in the coming years. With InfraVia’s backing and our growing project pipeline, we’re moving fast to deliver on that goal—supporting both energy security and decarbonisation across key European markets.”
Sven Moos, MD of Isenau Projects, added:
“We are delighted to partner with GIGA Storage on Project Albatross. This transaction reflects our focus on delivering high-quality BESS projects that meet the needs of grid operators, investors, and policymakers. Our shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and the energy transition makes this collaboration a natural fit.”
