From DistribuTECH 2000: ALSTOM ESCA Wins Contract for New Energy Management System at Tampa Electric
Tampa Electric chooses ALSTOM ESCA Corporation to supply its new Energy Management System (EMS), ALSTOM announced today.

ALSTOM ESCA's EMS will replace the Siemens ARTEC II system, which has been in operation since 1989. "Tampa Electric needed to upgrade its existing system as well as to add additional functionality, because of changes in the electric utility industry," said Phillip Jap, Project Manager at ALSTOM ESCA. "We are very pleased to welcome Tampa Electric into the ALSTOM ESCA family."

"The ALSTOM ESCA EMS system will not only make the transmission and distribution of energy for Tampa Electric customers more efficient, but will also allow for expedient system restoration in the case of power failure from a variety of circumstances such as a hurricane," Jap said.

Tony Ithier, Project Manager at Tampa Electric, said the utility decided to work with ALSTOM ESCA because of the company's reputation for customer satisfaction, advanced technology, and excellent quality products. "This upgrade," he said, "will bring our system up to date using the latest technology and allow us to continue to upgrade and maintain our system well into the future."
