Ergon Energy Goes Live With Mincom Ellipse

Denver, CO - Mincom, a global software and services provider to asset intensive industries, recently announced that Ergon Energy, a Queensland electricity distributor with a network covering 97% of the state and $6.7B in assets under management, has gone live with Mincom Ellipse in a major business transformation project.

Project JET (Joint Enterprise Transformation implementation project between Ergon Energy, ENERGEX and SPARQ Solutions with Mincom), represents the largest and most fully integrated ERP system ever installed in an electricity company by Mincom. The implementation included all modules of Mincom Ellipse and a host of other third-party applications and systems, providing an integrated solution across HR/Payroll, Finance, Logistics, Assets & Works Management and Health, Safety & Environment streams.

Richard Mathews, CEO of Mincom, said, "Mincom played a pivotal role as both software solutions partner and systems integrator responsible for all aspects of the project's management and implementation. The scope of the project was substantial, involving over 60 Mincom consultants, and was implemented over a two-year period. Mincom is pleased to be helping Ergon Energy realize its vision of a world-class, customer-driven energy business."

Daryl Scott, ERP Program Director of Ergon Energy, said, "Project JET was established by the business to transform the way the organization operated in response to both business and industry drivers. Overall, Ergon Energy wanted to improve its business performance through efficiency and productivity. In 1999, six regional entities were amalgamated to form Ergon Energy, so we inherited a number of legacy systems that didn't interface with one another. A major outcome of the project has been that we have reduced our systems from 180 to just one fully integrated system, so now, for example, our corporate data is consistent throughout the organization.

"The project has also allowed us to respond to industry regulation that mandates enhanced levels of efficiency and service provision to customers," he added.

"We have been Mincom's customer for over two years. Ergon Energy chose Mincom to be its software provider and systems integrator because we needed a partner who understood our business and could deliver on time and on budget with minimum disruption to the business. We have gone live as planned and anticipate significant benefits within Ergon Energy as a result of this implementation that will see a three-year pay back on the project investment.

"Since going live, more than 3,000 Ergon Energy staff have put their training into practice and have begun to use the new system. We look forward to it becoming a standard part of the way we do business."

Mincom Ellipse is a fully integrated enterprise solution, purpose-built for asset-intensive organizations in the utilities, government, mining, transport and defense sectors. Mincom's other existing utility customers include Toronto Hydro Canada, Transgrid, Nashville Electric Service USA, Delta Electricity, Integral Energy and Tarong Energy.
