Cooper Bussmann Announces Three High-Impact Electrical Seminars

St Louis, MO - Cooper Bussmann, leader in downtime reduction, workplace safety and Code compliance, will hold a series of Electrical Training and Safety Seminars at the first-of-its-kind industrial technology and training facility in Houston, TX, which Cooper Industries will officially open later this month. These important and timely full-day seminars will take place November 12, November 17 and December 4.
The seminars will cover a wide range of industry-relevant topics, including Code compliance; industrial control panels and short-circuit current ratings (SCCR), electrical safety and much more. Attendees will earn up to 8 Professional Development Hours (PDH) for each seminar attended.
Session 1 – November 12, 2008; Code Requirements for Emergency and Standby Electrical Systems, Plus Basics of Fuses and Circuit Breaker Selective Coordination:
- Provides explanation of NFPA 70 fundamentals.
- Provides the necessary tools required to identify Code requirements associated with emergency or standby power distribution installations, or install compliant emergency or standby power distribution for commercial and institutional buildings.
- Focuses on NEC selective coordination requirements for emergency and legally required standby power distribution.
- Guest Presenter: Mark Hilbert, chief electrical inspector for the State of New Hampshire, Bureau of Electrical Safety and Licensing
Session 2 – November 17, 2008; Industrial Control Panels and Short-Circuit Current Ratings (SCCR):
- Highlights overcurrent protection considerations for industrial control panels per the 2008 NEC, UL508A and NFPA 79 requirements including SCCR.
- Provides detailed examples using the UL 508A SCCR analysis method.
- Includes the use of OSCAR 2.0 SCCR Compliance Software.
- Guest Presenter: Mark Hilbert, chief electrical inspector for the State of New Hampshire, Bureau of Electrical Safety and Licensing.
Session 3 – December 4, 2008; Electrical Safety with Emphasis on Arc-flash Hazard Assessment:
- Provides overview on electrical safety including OSHA and NFPA 70E – 2009 Edition requirements.
- Addresses the various options and concerns faced by facility engineers, managers and safety personnel when conducting an arc-flash hazard analysis.
- Covers overall electrical safety, components of an electrical safety program, electrical hazards, flash hazard analysis and mitigation.
- Guest Presenter: Drake A. Drobnick, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST).
All three seminars are full day sessions and run from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. with breaks, refreshments and lunch included for $350.00 each.
