Colorado Gov. Hickenlooper To Keynote Western Power Summit
The Governor’s participation adds to a growing list of blue-ribbon executives and thought leaders who will lead three days of discussion, learning, and networking.
Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper will offer keynote remarks on October 24 at the fourth annual Western Power Summit. This year’s event will be held at the Omni Interlocken Resort in Broomfield, Colo.
Now in his second term as the Centennial State’s governor, Hickenlooper will speak about the state’s landmark clean power plan, as well as ongoing efforts in the state to balance renewable energy expansion with continued fossil fuel development.
The governor’s appearance will be followed by three days of presentations and roundtable discussions about critical issues facing the electric power sector across the western United States and Canadian provinces. The event closes with an exclusive tour of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s world-class Energy Systems Integration Facility in nearby Golden, Colo.
Transmission, renewable energy, fossil fuels, smart city development, water and energy, and emerging market structures will be among the topics addressed by thought leader senior power sector players.
“We are honored to have Governor Hickenlooper join us and help to set the stage for discussion, learning and networking among professionals from across the West’s power sector,” says Jamie Reesby, Western Power Summit Show Director. “The story of how Colorado continues to balance its mix of resources and views on their use is an important one that we look forward to hearing.”
In part, Governor Hickenlooper will discuss whether Colorado’s approach offers a blueprint for the West or whether the state’s particular mix of resources and political players made it a one-off effort.
The Western Power Summit provides a three-day opportunity for leaders across the energy sector to discuss, debate, and gain new perspectives on the pressing issues facing the West’s electric power sector.
Summit attendees include existing and emerging leaders and innovators from across the West’s electric power sector, including investor-owned utilities, federal power agencies, cooperatives, independent power producers, and municipal power agencies, leading Prosumers, public policy leaders, financial executives, policy makers and sector innovators, among others.
