<%=company1%> this week announced a significant number of the United Kingdom's major energy companies have made decisions to implement its Zai*Net Software suite of trading products for operation under the United Kingdom's New Electricity Trading Arrangements (NETA). Caminus is a leading provider of software solutions and strategic consulting services to participants in energy markets throughout North America and Europe, including utilities, electrical power generating companies, energy marketers, electric power pools, gas producers, processors, and pipelines.

Since the beginning of the year, British Energy, PowerGen, London Electricity and Yorkshire Electricity have joined longstanding Caminus customer TXU Europe by selecting Zai*Net as their system to trade energy and manage risk in the much more competitive and dynamic NETA environment. These companies account for a major share of electricity generated and retail sales of electricity in England and Wales.

Since 1990 the electricity Pool, or wholesale market, in England and Wales has been a key element in restructuring and privatizing the UK's electricity sector. Its influence worldwide on the introduction of competition into electricity markets has been enormous and many countries have introduced their own wholesale markets based, at least in part, on the Pool.

But the Pool has not been without problems and in 1998 the British government selected Caminus to work with it to review the Pool to make it a better trading environment for electricity. Since then, Caminus has remained at the heart of NETA, which has been developed as a result of the review. The Caminus team on this project has been led by Dr. Nigel Evans, the company's Director of European Operations. Caminus offers a suite of software solutions and associated services to enable energy market participants to manage complex risk scenarios and effectively trade and manage energy transactions, addressing multiple energy commodities and types of risk across varied geographies.

Dr. Evans said, "Caminus has been very closely associated with NETA for over two years and we believe strongly that the new arrangements will contribute to a better trading environment for electricity. We are now providing state of the art NETA-compliant software that allows our customers to compete effectively under the new arrangements. We are delighted with the endorsement provided by the many U.K. players that have already chosen Caminus' trading systems for NETA, and look forward to having them live and ready for NETA operations in October. We also welcome their active participation in the Caminus NETA Advisory Board (CNAB) which has been established to ensure that all our customers are fully briefed on our NETA developments. "

Caminus currently has over 100 energy enterprise customers of its software solution and strategic consulting services. Many of Caminus' customers are leaders in the energy industry, including British Energy, Electrabel SA, American Electric Power, Conoco, and TXU Electric and Gas. Caminus is headquartered in New York, with offices in Houston and Dallas, Texas; and London and Cambridge, UK.
