Black & Veatch Expanding Demand Side Management And Energy Efficiency Services For Utilities
Black & Veatch, a leading global engineering, consulting and construction company, has launched expanded Demand Side Management (DSM) and Energy Efficiency (EE) services for energy utilities through its management consulting division, Enterprise Management Solutions (EMS).
The DSM/EE strategic consulting services offered by EMS are a key part of the company's larger Smart Utility initiative. The service offerings include:
- Electric Load and Baseline Market Research
- DSM/EE Potential Assessments and Program Design
- Program Implementation Management and Administration & Transition Services
- DSM/EE Program Evaluation Measurement and Verification
- Dynamic Pricing and Demand Response Program Design
Black & Veatch helps clients evaluate their DSM/EE requirements and develop strategies for effective program design, management and monitoring for the achievement of regulatory, legislative and corporate goals.
"While Black & Veatch has a comprehensive program to address the broader requirements of Smart Grid initiatives, most utilities are in the analysis, planning and budgeting phase today," said Rodger Smith, President of EMS. "Our service offerings will effectively optimize a utility's strategic planning process."
Integrating Black & Veatch's engineering skills, technology expertise and process experience with EMS' management consultants allows the DSM/EE solutions group to determine a utility's needs based on expected future electric load conditions. EMS consultants can design a portfolio of customer programs, while determining funding and rate base alternatives to best meet the needs of the individual client.
"Ultimately, the DSM/EE services we offer help clients determine the optimum way to approach a complex and multi-faceted challenge," added Smith.
