Electrical Energy (Power) consumption and demand characteristics are key conservation and cost control factors. In today's environment, businesses are no longer viewing their electrical energy consumption as an uncontrollable cost. The first step toward managing energy costs is to understand the consumption patterns. Once this is accomplished, analysis and tradeoff studies can be performed to determine the best course of action.

At times energy bills are used for this analysis. Unfortunately they don't tell the whole story. It may be impossible to determine the actual magnitude and duration of peaks in demand. Without comprehensive information, it is difficult to identify the ease with which conservation/cost reduction can be achieved. Furthermore, physical plant changes in the recent past may not be reflected in aged billing information.

BEMMS offers a solution which may be installed on either a temporary or full-time basis. BEMMS is capable of collecting consumption, demand, power factor, THD, and individual harmonic data for entire buildings, sub panels, or individual loads. If desired, energy consumption may be viewed in intervals as small as 15 seconds, or in ranges up to 4 hours. By installing BEMMS recorders/controllers at multiple locations, data can easily be consolidated to obtain aggregate consumption data across multiple facilities.
