ABB, the leading power and automation technology company, recently announced that Anders Sjoelin has been named region division manager of the ABB Power Systems division for North America, effective May 1.

Sjoelin replaces Martin Gross, who moves into a global role as the business unit manager for ABB's Grid Systems business. Grid Systems is one of the businesses within ABB's Power Systems division. The other businesses are: Network Management, Power Generation and Substations.

Prior to this new role, Sjoelin served as General Manager for both the Grid Systems and Substation business units in North America.

"Anders has already made significant contributions in growing our Grid Systems business in recent years, not only in revenues but in terms of advancing key smart grid-related technologies that create greater efficiency and reliability of the power grid for our utility customers," said Enrique Santacana, president and CEO of ABB Inc. in North America. "We are happy that Anders has agreed to continue building on the successes and engineering innovations of our Power Systems team.

"We also commend Martin Gross for his hard work and vision the last two years in guiding the Power Systems division through technology breakthroughs, an excellent work culture and continued profitability in spite of the economic slowdown in our industry," said Santacana.

Sjoelin first joined ABB in 1991 as a business trainee. Since then, he has advanced through numerous management positions within ABB's power divisions. He has worked in Sweden, Singapore, Spain, Brazil and at ABB's corporate headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.

Sjoelin will continue to be based in Raleigh, home to both ABB's Power Systems and Power Products division headquarters for North America.
