Disaster-Ready Interoperability

Source: Motorola

Private, interoperable Motorola radio system is disaster-ready and able when hurricanes hit.

Lee County Electrical Cooperative serves 170,000 customers in a fi vecounty area that spans the vacation coastline including Sanibel Island, Marco Island and Fort Myers. The co-op's dispatch relies on a Motorola VHF radio system with 4 repeater channels used to run 8 channels. Radio channels are divided by geographic regions, with towers at each of the main island and city sites. While the system's layout is older, it is a workhorse that has been well-maintained and regularly upgraded.
