OpenITS is a modern Transaction Scheduling software package ideal for utilities in need of replacing their current functionality-limited scheduling software. It is a modern and flexible scheduling package ideal for dealing with the explosion of scheduling requirements brought about as a result of electric utility deregulation.
OpenITS supports the following features:
  • Contracts
Users enter contract terms needed for scheduling and billing (i.e., company name, transmission path, delivery point, commodity, price, transaction type, etc.).
  • Commodities
Multiple types of commodities can be scheduled (e.g., energy, capacity, reserves, losses, wheeling, inadvertent payback, emission credits, etc.).
  • Transaction Types
Multiple types are supported (e.g., firm, non-firm, emergency, etc.).
  • Transmission Path
Paths are used to validate that the transaction will not exceed the transmission line loading limits.
  • Price Formula
Multiple prices and the formula are user-defined for each transaction. The billing price is calculated from the formula.
  • Schedules
Start/stop and hourly grid schedules are supported for the past, present, and future.
  • Reports
Company, commodity, and ad-hoc transaction reports are provided.
  • Filters

Reports and summaries can be filtered to display only the desired information (e.g., a filter can be used to show all sales to a company for a specific day).
OpenITS maximizes the number of transactions/day utility personnel can create by minimizing the time spent on data entry. Transactions are built from predefined contract, company, and commodity data.

Interoperability

OpenITS can be interfaced to external EMS, billing, accounting, or Customer Information Systems residing on a corporate computer system using SQL, or it can be used on a stand-alone workstation. OpenITS provides SQL access to its real-time database for ad-hoc queries/reports.
OpenITS is designed for today's client/server environments using UNIX/Motif and MS Windows NT. Oracle, Sybase, Informix, or MS SQL Server are used for the RDBMS.
