Northern Pass Receives Approval To Carry Hydroelectric Power Through Transmission Line

The Northern Pass, a proposed transmission line carrying low-cost renewable hydroelectric power to New Hampshire and New England, received the “I.3.9 approval” by ISO New England, the operators of the region’s power grid, according to a release by Northeast Utilities.

Northern Pass has to prove that it can  reliably interconnect to the New England grid in order to gain I.3.9 approval. Energy projects must gain I.3.9 approval to connect to the regional power grid.

ISO New England has determined Northern Pass poses no risk of negatively effecting the regional grids reliability or participants connected to the grid.
