Amey Wins Huge Power Line Contract From Western Power Distribution

Amey has won a contract worth around £24m per annum from electricity distribution business Western Power Distribution (WPD) for refurbishing and renewing 92,000km of overhead power lines across WPD s network until 2018.

The network serves the South West, South Wales and Midlands regions and is claimed to be the largest in the UK, offering electricity to 7.8m customers.

In April 2013, Amey acquired Enterprise plc which has been providing services across some of WPD s network since 2003.

Amey s chief executive, Mel Ewell, said, the utilities proposition presently offered by Amey as a result of the acquisition earlier is being received positively. He added, This latest partnership with Western Power Distribution builds on a successful period for Amey across the utilities sector.

Earlier, Amey had won contracts with Welsh Water, United Utilities and Severn Trent Water to provide clean and waste water services.
