EPRI PEAC Corporation has been at the forefront of remote real-time power monitoring for many years. Using the latest technology in power monitoring and software, EPRI PEAC can offer remote monitoring of distributed generation (DG) equipment worldwide. Our exclusive system offers customers the flexibility to view power quality, power flow, and DG status information via the World Wide Web (WWW). The ability to set up and interrogate monitoring instruments at remote locations is very beneficial to utilities and their end-use customers.

As part of the EPRI PEAC monitoring system, we will make a site visit to assist in the installation of the monitoring instrument and set up the monitoring instruments according to industry standards (IEEE 1159 and IEEE P1547). After the installation and setup, EPRI PEAC downloads the data nightly to a secure server. Data is made available to customers via password protected web site.

As distributed generation becomes more prevalent, the need to obtain information like power flow (kVA, kW, and PF) will be essential. The monitoring systems employed by EPRI PEAC for power quality monitoring are directly transportable to distributed generation. In fact, many of the monitors in use today have control functionality, which would allow a system operator to remotely switch a DG unit in and out of service when the need arises. By tying the control of the DG unit to the monitoring of the power system, power brokers can easily respond to the need of end users by aggregating DG units from across the power system.
