PowerSecure Awarded First Distributed Generation Project With ESCO Customer
Wake Forest, NC /PRNewswire/ - PowerSecure International, Inc. (NYSE: POWR) today announced that a large energy services company (ESCO) customer has placed an order for a distributed generation (DG) solution that will deliver cost and energy savings, and reliable backup power, to a large federal prison in the Midwest. This award represents the first PowerSecure Energy Efficiency Services (EES) project that has included a DG solution.
"This win represents a very significant cross-selling milestone for PowerSecure as the first DG project we have been awarded through our ESCO customer channel," said Sidney Hinton, chief executive officer of PowerSecure.
"We believe that the energy savings and power reliability the PowerSecure team can offer with multiple energy efficient solutions under one umbrella provides additional cost savings opportunities for our ESCO customers and streamlines the communication, scheduling and efficiency of projects," Hinton added.
In addition to providing more efficient air conditioning, air handling, refrigeration and steam system solutions at the facility, PowerSecure will design, manufacture and install a new 1,250 kW PowerBlock™ generator. The new generator is interim Tier 4 compliant, can support the full load of the facility with reliable backup power and will deliver substantial cost and energy savings to the federal government as PowerSecure operates the system to capture savings from the peak shaving program offered by the local utility.
The PowerSecure team also will update the facility's existing 400 kW emergency generator system to meet the Environmental Protection Agency's NESHAP requirements for peak shaving, and will utilize this upgraded system to generate additional peak shaving savings for the government.
