Optical Pulse Initiator

The Optical Pulse Initiator (OPI) is the lowest-cost, most reliable pulse retrofit kit for electricity meters. Using proven optical sensing technology perfected by American Innovations since its introduction in 1987, the OPI converts meter disk rotations into dry contact closure output. It fits inside all US residential electricity meters and is powered off the meter.

AI's Wireless Optical Pulse Initiator (Wireless OPI) is ideal for areas where it is difficult or impossible to run a wire from the meter to a monitoring location, such as apartment complexes, some commercial locations, and residential locations where meters are mounted away from the house. Using the Wireless OPI will reduce the problems associated with wiring OPI modules through existing wiring troughs. This device communicates directly with SkyBox, and can be mounted to a meter box, to a flat or shingled wall or to a conduit coming from the meter box.
