The Arbiter Systems, Inc. Model 1083A GPS Satellite-Controlled Frequency Standard delivers performance comparable to atomic frequency standards
The Arbiter Systems®, Inc. Model 1083A GPS Satellite-Controlled Frequency Standard delivers performance comparable to atomic frequency standards, but at a fraction of the price.

The outstanding long-term accuracy of the GPS system and the excellent short-term stability of Wenzel Associates Small Fry™ SC-cut quartz oscillator combine to produce traceable, standard frequency outputs of 1, 5, and 10 MHz with outstanding spectral purity and long-term stability. These outputs are suitable for use as the frequency reference for counters and signal generators, or for multiplication to microwave frequencies. An output of one pulse per second (1PPS) is also provided for time standard applications.

Intended primarily for unattended operation, the Model 1083A has no display or keyboard, and may be configured and controlled via its serial port. Seven LEDs monitor operating status.

The Model 1083A includes two form 1C (SPDT) failsafe relays to monitor system status. The first provides a LOCKED indication, and the second provides an indication that the oscillator oven is stabilized and the output signals are settled within normal limits.

Standard power options include 85-264 Vac/110-275 Vdc, with either IEC-320 detachable cordset or terminal strip inlet, and 10-85 Vdc.

To distribute the Model 1083A standard frequency or 1PPS outputs, use the Arbiter Systems Model 1073A Distribution Amplifier. This instrument has three inputs. Each input and output of the 1073A may be independently set for ac- or dc-coupled operation. The Model 1073A provides a total of up to 12 additional outputs.
