Data Defender is an external in-line device that converts non-data protected telephone hand sets to data-protected operation, and adds technical and data lock-out protection upgrade-capability to existing sets. The product attaches to industry standard hand test set cords.

It is compatible with traditional hand test sets, DTMF and dial pulse, speakers, one- and two-way speaker versions, audio boost, and CO variations, and when installed and the presence of data is detected, the device automatically signals an alerting tone and locks out the craft test set as long as data is present.

Additionally, the product does not intrude into the voice band region, and it is capable of detecting numerous xDSL protocols; IDSN; T-1; E-1; and ADSL, including lite, SW56, 64KB, HDSL, S-HDSL/SDSL, RadSL, and VDSL.
