DEWA To Implement 600 Pocket Substations With A 1000 kVA Transmission Capacity
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has recently awarded the contract to implement 600 pocket substations from an Emirati company.
The 11/0.4 kilovolt pocket substations will have a transmission capacity of 1,000 kilovolts per ampere and will be used in several power network projects in Dubai.
"The scope of the contract includes the design, manufacturing, testing, and delivery of 600 substations with a total cost of Dhs72.55m. At DEWA, we remain always ready by maintaining suitable stock levels of equipment, such as cables and substations according to our anticipated levels of use in all projects. This is particularly the case with regards to guaranteeing constant and reliable services for all our customers. These substations are at the top of our acquisition agenda for the current year, being instrumental in the execution of many ongoing projects in Dubai," said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
"According to a carefully put-together strategic plan, and with the available capabilities and expertise, DEWA can plan for the needs of the future, which in turn makes us always ready to action consumers' requests in a timely manner," added HE Al Tayer.
