ArcFM 8.0.2.1 is the latest version of the manufacturer's AM/FM/GIS application for modeling, editing, maintaining, and managing facility and landbase data for utilities. A powerful extension to ESRI's object-oriented ArcInfo 8.0.2, it is a flexible and customizable set of mapping and editing tools geared toward the needs of utility end-users. It provides industry-standard architecture, ease-of-use, and powerful cartographic tools that improve editing productivity by integrating spatial and tabular information.

The application's additional functionality includes batch plotting and a component for duct and trench management. Users can now place underground linear structures (ULS) on the map, assign positions to conductors or cables within the ULS, and add a cross-section view of the ULS. Additionally, support for internationalization, attribute editor enhancements, field information manager enhancements, and electric trace solvers are also part of this new version.

ArcFM consists of a family of geodatabases, which are intelligent sets of objects that represent the behavior and characteristics of land, energy, telecommunications, and water utilities, plus a thin application layer that is an extension of ArcInfo. It allows utility businesses to make use of a single integrated environment to manage and map multiple utilities, leveraging all the power of ArcInfo's object-oriented architecture. Editing functionality includes fast geometric coordinate geometry – commonly associated with map feature management – without add-on programming or customization. This generation of products fits into the overall information technology architecture of modern utilities through the use of open databases, industry-standard programming environments, and COM architecture.
