FLIR Systems, Inc recently announced the introduction of three new FLIR i-Series thermal imaging cameras, the i40, i50, and i60. The affordable i-Series cameras offer best-in-class infrared diagnostic capabilities for commercial applications. The new i-Series cameras support electromechanical applications and will occupy the segment of the market between the new, high volume FLIR i5 camera and the higher performance, ThermaCAM T-Series line.
The cameras will reach a wider market as the Thermography Division expands its distribution network worldwide and utilizes the recent Extech acquisition to further develop distribution partnerships in the U.S. The new cameras will be included in the product line up at Grainger Industrial Supply which has recently entered into an arrangement to include thermography products in its catalog for distribution through over 400 Grainger branches. At $6.4B in annual revenues, Grainger is the leading broad line supplier of facilities maintenance products serving businesses and institutions in Canada, Mexico and the United States, with a growing presence in Shanghai, China.
The new i-Series is complemented by the FLIR b40, b50 and b60 cameras, designed to support the growing use of infrared cameras as building diagnostics tools. The b-Series product introductions reflect a growing emphasis FLIR is placing on products that can be used to improve energy efficiency in buildings. "With the focus we have placed on building diagnostics and gas detection infrared cameras, FLIR's products help reduce our dependency on oil and reduce carbon emissions," said Earl Lewis, President and CEO of FLIR Systems, Inc.
Leveraging FLIR's global leadership in infrared technology, the i-Series introduces several features not previously found at this price point, including infrared detectors ranging from 120x120 to 180x180 pixels, a built-in visual camera with up to 2.3 megapixel resolution, FUSION scalable picture-in-picture capabilities, a 5-hour swappable Li-Ion battery, and a lightweight, 1.3 pound, ergonomic design. The new camera series was designed by FLIR's Thermography division in Stockholm, Sweden, and utilizes FLIR's own high-performance infrared sensors.
"The introduction of the FLIR i-Series product family is the most recent addition to a line-up that has undergone a complete transformation in the last two years and highlights FLIR's continued commitment to leadership in the Thermography market," said Mr. Lewis. "As we approach 2009, the Thermography Division will present the strongest line-up of products it has ever brought to our industrial markets and it is completely unmatched by any of our industrial competitors. We are excited about the impact this new lineup will have on our continued growth."
